The medallions carry portraits of Leonora Galigaï and Francis, Duke of Anjou, as indicated in the inscriptions. Medallions like this were sought as collectibles. The ring on the top suggests that they might have been used as hanging ornaments.Made of copper and covered with black lacquer, the decorations are in gold maki-e.
