The coupon parking system was introduced by Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) in 1980 to facilitate efficient use of labour resources. This coupon will require the user to shade the respective columns with pencil while the new coupon introduced in Feb 1980, makes it easier in the “die-cut” format. This artefact was part of the selection in the time capsule buried in 1990 by then DPM Ong Teng Cheong to celebrate Singapore’s 50th anniversary of independence in 2015.
