The songs “If You’ve Got The Money, I’ve Got The Time” and “If” were American pop singer and actress Jo Stafford. She had a very successful pop music career spanning five decades to the early1980s. Both songs were recordings of her accompanied by Paul Weston and his Orchestra. Weston was also the husband of Stafford. These songs were recorded by Columbia records, which were established in 1888, evolving from the earlier American Gramophone Company. Music from England and America were gaining popularity amongst Peranakans in Singapore and the Straits during the early 20th century.
