“Sing Singapore” was first launched in 1988 with the aim to provide Singaporeans with a pool of songs in English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil from which they can easily identify and sing at official functions and social gatherings. It was hoped that the “Sing Singapore” programme will also help foster a sense of togetherness among a people of diverse cultures. This set of artefacts was part of the selection in the time capsule buried in 1990 by then DPM Ong Teng Cheong to celebrate Singapore’s 50th anniversary of independence in 2015.
