The changala vatta also called the greek lamp is commonly used during Hindu festivities, especially weddings, in the southern Indian region of Kerala. The lamp forms one of eight auspicious things or ashtamangalya used during rituals. This lamp is a long leaf shaped with an oil receptacle and spoon in the middle. It is also used during the performance of Kathakali.
