This is the original typed, prompter’s script belonging to Dr Margaret Chan that was used during her 1986 performance of Emily of Emerald Hill in Edinburgh, Scotland. This script deviated from the original play, with the director Dr Max Le Blond revising the last twenty minutes of the play to make have a more dramatic ending. Written by Stella Kon in 1982, Emily of Emerald Hill tells the story of a Peranakan woman from young bride to strong-willed matriarch in the Peranakan enclave of Emerald Hill, in Singapore.
