Royal turban

This Puneri pagdi (Pune-style turban) is closely associated with the Pune region of Maharashtra, where it was traditionally worn by courtiers or people with high social standing. The cloth used is paithani cotton, a fine hand-woven textile that incorporates dual toned thread with wide zari borders and embellishments. This type of pagadi was also worn by the Peshwas in Maharashtra, in a wider form. This style became common from the 19th century and is now the intellectual property of Pune (from 2009)
