The first letter sent to the feedback unit in April 1985 by an anonymous member of the public, discussed his concern on the increase in television license fees from $54 to $80 per year. He highlighted that $80 was a huge sum of money for the lower income group and suggested that it would be better for the government to impose tax on luxury items instead of the television. This artefact was part of the selection in the time capsule buried in 1990 by then DPM Ong Teng Cheong to celebrate Singapore’s 50th anniversary of independence in 2015.
