This pure white glaze on this ewer allows appreciation of the exquisite form. The Dehua kilns of Fujian province produced these objects of pure white porcelain, which became extremely popular in Europe. Dehua white wares were exported all over the world during the Qing dynasty, and reached a peak of production in the 17th century. While most likely conceived of as a vessel for serving wine, this may have been used in Europe for tea or milk.
