This is a programme from Pearlly Chua’s performance of Emily of Emerald Hill in 1996 in Kuala Lumpur. This performance was given under the patronage of Y.A.M Tunku Dara Tunku Dato’ Seri Naquiah Binti Tuanku Ja’afar. Pearlly Chua holds the distinction of having played the role of Emily Gan more times than any other actress. She has acted in the play almost annually since 1990.Stella Kon is an award-winning Singapore playwright whose most important work was the 1983 one-woman play, Emily of Emerald Hill. She is also a descendent of two prominent Peranakan philanthropists, Tan Tock Seng and Dr Lim Boon Keng.
