This is a programme from the 1985 Arts Festival held in Singapore. This was the first time that Emily of Emerald Hill was performed in the country, and Dr Margaret Chan’s first performance in that role. Stella Kon is an award-winning Singapore playwright whose most important work was the 1983 one-woman play, Emily of Emerald Hill. She is also a descendent of two prominent Peranakan philanthropists, Tan Tock Seng and Dr Lim Boon Keng.
