Parsi Cap

Parsis, like many Indian communities wore headgear for formal occasions like ceremonies and weddings, or even to denote their social standing. A topi such as this heavily embellished example could likely have been worn by a groom for a wedding, or such occasion. The topi is embellished using zardozi embroidery, a technique of embroidering using gilt thread or gold and silver wire, which was very expensive and time-consuming.
