Tay Boon Pin (b.1936) received training in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1956. He was one of the early members of Equator Art Society (EAS). “Teh Tarik Seller” is Tay’s early representative work produced in 1969. The painting depicts a common people in daily surrounding. The image of the subject reveals a distinctive sense of vividness and immediacy, which is realized via the expressive and heavily emotionally-charged brushwork.
