This ovoid puddingstone snuff bottle is supported on a raised foot-rim; its beige matrix suffused with greyish chips of quartz. The variation in shape and size of the chips creates a strong visual impact, which complements the simple form of the bottle. Puddingstone is the generic term for a conglomerate of sedimentary flint pebbles in a matrix of chert (a dense rock composed mainly of microcrystalline quartz).
