This is a Moulinex combine major mixer model 118 in its original box. This was the first cake mixer of the donor’s mother and remained as her favourite baking tool till she passed away in early 2000s. The donor’s mother had a love for baking and was only able to pursue her interest in baking in 1970s when she moved into a bigger HDB flat with a larger kitchen space. It was during this time that her husband bought her her first cake mixer. The meticulous mending of the tear and wear on the parts of the mixer reveals the value of this mixer to the donor’s mother as it was one of her earliest kitchen appliances. This mixer holds a special place in the donor’s family history as many baked goods shared at occasions were made with this mixer. The possession of such household items in the 1970s also reveals the rising affluence and increased spending power of Singapore families.
