Mdm Wong Lai Tuan was 16 years old when she left Singapore for China to live with her aunt. This travel visa was signed by Wu Paak-Shing, the Chinese Consul-General in Singapore on 7 October 1946, and certifies Mdm Wong's good character and Chinese nationality for her travel between China, Hong Kong and Singapore. A five dollar fee was paid, and the visa was valid for one year. The visa contains stamps on its reverse side indicating permission granted by Singapore immigration for Mdm Wong's departure for Hong Kong on 26 October 1946, and also a stamp recognising her ticket issued for the KPM ship Tjitjalengka.
