This kebaya from the 1930s has a very simple 'biku' design that runs along the sleeves and lapel of the piece. Such simple pieces would have been used for daily wear by nyonyas of the time. The kebaya is a loose open jacket worn by Peranakan women of the Straits Settlements, Indonesia and Indo-European women of the late 19th to 20th century.
