This is a 1950s kebaya with a simple design that runs along the sleeves and lapel of the piece. Such simply designed kebayas would have been worn daily around the home. The kebaya is a loose open jacket worn by Peranakan women of the Straits Settlements, Indonesia and Indo-European women of the late 19th to 20th century.
