Kebaya

This is a kebaya with simple scalloped edges all around made of cotton and it would have been worn at home. The 1940s saw the halt of lace imports to the Dutch East Indies and hence, kebayas made during this period were very simple. The kebaya is a loose open jacket worn by Peranakan women of the Straits Settlements, Indonesia and Indo-European women of the late 19th to 20th century.
