This kebaya from the 1930s has very intricate lacework and embroidery or 'sulam' work. There are motifs of large flowers that run along the sleeves and lapel of the kebaya. The kebaya is a loose open jacket worn by Peranakan women of the Straits Settlements, Indonesia and Indo- European women of the late 19th to 20th century.
