This is a 1950s kebaya with simple lacework design that runs along the sleeves and lapel of the piece. Such simply designed kebayas would have been worn daily around the home. The kebaya is a loose open jacket worn by Peranakan women of the Straits Settlements, Indonesia and Indo-European women of the late 19th to 20th century.
