This kebaya from the 1930s has very intricate lacework and embroidery or 'sulam' work. There are leaf motifs embroidered along the sleeves and lapel of the kebaya. The kebaya is a loose open jacket worn by Peranakan women of the Straits Settlements, Indonesia and Indo- European women of the late 19th to 20th century.
