Shoe box from Hilda

This is a pink shoe box that was used to store ladies’ shoes from Hilda’s Department Store. The box also shows the logo of Hilda’s Department Store. On the side of the box, the 6 branches of Hilda’s Department Store are listed, which include Malaysia Arcade at High Street and Liat Towers at Orchard Road. The shoes which the box contained could have been bought in the 1960s-70s, when a wide variety of brands, both local and foreign, were made available to consumers in Singapore. The late 60s-70-s saw the emergence of a new breed of shoppers who had a greater disposable income.
