Neo Tiew's family gravestone epitaph calligraphy scroll

This is a gravestone calligraphy scroll with an epitaph mourning the death of 35 members of Neo Tiew's (Leong Huo Chu, 1884-1975) family who were massacred by the Japanese Army on 14th February 1942. The epitaph was written by Chen Cheng, the Secretary-General of the Kuomintang (KMT) Youth League of the Three Principles of the People (YLTPP). Neo was a Chinese community leader who supported the anti-Japanese war and was head of the Singapore branch of the KMT YLTPP. He was also responsible for the development of the Lim Chu Kang area from the early 20th century to the 1950s. Neo Tiew Road, Neo Tiew Lane and Neo Tiew Crescent are named after him.
