This programme is from one of the spate of plays that were a part of the revival of Peranakan theatre in the 1950s and 1960s, after the Japanese Occupation. The plays were put on by amateurs, usually to raise funds for charitable organizations. Unlike most Peranakan theatre from the 1950s that featured all-male casts, this play included women in the cast. Kerhidopan Se Buta, by Francis Hogan, a star of the period, is about a family with two daughters who face certain dilemmas in their marriage prospects.
