This album contains 13 albumen prints by Francis Chit (Chit Chitrakani), Siam's first local commercial photographer. Chit started a photographic studio in Thonburi, Bangkok in 1863, widely advertising his services in Bangkok's English language newspapers. He went on to be appointed photographer to both King Mongkut (Rama IV) and King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) of Siam. The photographs in this album are a selection of landscapes and portraits in Bangkok. Notably, it contains a photograph of the Regent, the royal ship that King Chulalongkorn sailed on for his first visit to Singapore in 1871.
