This is a medal with an accompanying certificate of honour awarded by King George VI to Neo Tiew (Leong Huo Chu, 1884-1975) in recognition of his many years of service to the British Empire and for his contributions to the local community. Neo was a Chinese community leader who was responsible for the development of the Lim Chu Kang area from the early 20th century to the 1950s. Neo Tiew Road, Neo Tiew Lane and Neo Tiew Crescent are named after him.
