This booklet belongs to a Mr Liang Yinkang (梁阴康). It records the amount of funds that he has invested with Yue Da Xing Long Ji, a silk textiles business in Guangzhou in 1946, as well as the dividends he has earned for the next three years (1947-9). The first page of the booklet shows that the general and deputy managers of the firm share the same surname as Mr Liang, suggesting that they share ancestral or familial ties. This highlights the importance of ‘guanxi’ and personal relations in the way the Chinese conducted business.
