Anak Noraka programme

This programme is from one of the spate of plays that were a part of the revival of Peranakan theatre in the 1950s and 1960s, after the Japanese Occupation. Peranakan theatre from the 1950s featured all-male casts with women being introduced to marginal roles in the 1960s. The plays were put on by amateurs, usually to raise funds for charitable organizations. Anak Noraka features Francis Hogan in a cast that included both male and female actors. The play is about a man who believes his wife’s lies about his mother and drives his mother out of his house, only to realize his folly on his deathbed.
