Plane at Sembawang Airbase

This photograph is part of a series which depicts the sights and scenes of 19th and 20th century Singapore.Originally known as RAF Sembawang, the base was a station for the British Royal Air Force as well as the Royal Navy. It was renamed Sembawang Air Base in 1971 when it was handed over to the Singapore Air Defence Command (now known as the Republic of Singapore Air Force). The base continues to be part of the republic’s air force till today.
