These earplugs, known as ‘akota’, comprised of two main elements each. A disc and a cylindrical unit are attached at an angle to each other in order to cover the edge and back of the ear. It is a type of jewellery based on the traditional silver models used by Gujarati women. The form, complexity of design, size and heavy weight makes these earplugs unusual.
