This photograph is part of a series which depicts the sights and scenes of 19th and 20th century Singapore. The Britannia Club was run and managed by the British Navy, Army, Armed Forces Institution and the Women’s Voluntary Service in the 1950s at Beach Road. It was a popular place for recreation and social functions for British military personnel and their families. In 1972, with the British withdrawal the Singapore government took over the facility for the Singapore Armed Forces. It was then renamed the SAF Warrant Officers and Specialists Club.
