This sarong forms part of the costume worn by a Pak Boyan in a Peranakan wedding procession.The Peranakan community hired help from the Baweanese community, known to them as ‘Pak Boyan’, for the wedding procession. They were hired to assist in doing various jobs such as bearing the lanterns adorned with surnames of the two families enjoined in the marriage, and carrying sedan chairs of the bride and bridegroom.
