This Kashmiri cap, woven from pashmina wool is an example of the use of amlikar embroidery. Amlikar is one of the traditional crafts of Kashmir and applied on shawls as well. Fine pashmina threads are embroidered onto plain-coloured fabric in extremely fine stitches that often do not pass through to the other side. This style of cap would have likely been used by upper-class Muslims.
