This poster was used by the Shaw Brothers cinema chain to advertise the Hollywood movie, ‘Barb Wire’, during its Singapore run. Inspired by a comic book series of the same name published by Dark Horse Comics, the action movie starred actress Pamela Anderson (of television series ‘Baywatch’ fame) in the titular role of Barb Wire, a sexy bounty hunter living in a fictionalised 21st century America caught up in a second civil war. Directed by Paul Hogan, the movie was a loose remake of the classic Hollywood movie, ‘Casablanca’ (1942), with Wire being a female version of Rick Blaine, the protagonist played by actor Humphrey Bogart in the original.
