This jug has a globular body with a short cylinder neck. The handle has a thumbrest in the form of a bird. The upper body is decorated with a cursive inscription that reads "al-'izz wa al-karama (wa) al-sa'ada" which means 'Glory and Generosity and Happiness'. The lower body has wide vertical bandsKashan, a town in Central Iran was the principal centre for the production of fine pottery and tile-work. Its pre-eminent position between the 12th and 14th centuries additionally comes from the signatures of a number of prominent potters, namely the Abu Tahir family and Abu Zaid.
