This red book, which contained the driver’s license of the late Christina Lee, was donated to the National Museum of Singapore by her close friend, Mrs. Jaya Mohideen.Christina Lee was a style icon who was remembered for her poise, elegance and impeccable fashion sense. She was the former wife of Loke Wan Tho, the founder and chairman of Cathay Organisation. In the early 1970s, she established her perfume company, Perfumes of Singapore. Her husband, Dr. Dadi Balsara, eventually took over the business when they got married. Together, they produced fragrances such as ‘Singapore Girl’ and ‘First Lady’.Mrs. Jaya Mohideen was Singapore’s Ambassador to Brussels, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg and the Vatican. She is currently Singapore’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Finland. Mrs. Mohideen also runs an art gallery, Galerie Belvedere.
