Stamp

This red, rectangular stamp has three concentric motifs. Clay stamps were often found with grave goods of the Later Ban Chiang Period. While there is little evidence for their function, it has been suggested they were used to apply decoration to textiles. They were probably dipped in dye in order to transfer the design. The site of Ban Chiang was first discovered in 1957. Pottery was found with skeletal remains, glass beads as well as iron and bronze bracelets.
