Rough Cuts

Rough Cuts is composed of 17 individual porcelain plates. Each of the plate was delicately created with an egg-shell quality. Jason Lim is well-known for his experimental way in exploring traditional clay as a creative artistic medium. Rough Cuts is one of four drawing series he has produced with clay to date. Produced in 2007, Rough Cuts was developed as part of the process of making Just Dharma, which was shown in Singapore Pavilion during the 52nd Venice Bienale in 2007. This series of total 40 pieces was first shown in the 4th World Ceramics Biennale in Incheon, Korea, 2007. The work can be further enhanced when viewed with a light source coming through them.
