This embroidered collar with tassels features various auspicious motifs such as phoenixes, deer, butterflies and peonies. They were worn by the page girl around her neck on top of her robe as part of the Peranakan Chinese 12-day wedding ceremony during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Such collars are very rare as they disintegrate easily.
