The now-defunct Stamford Café, located at Bras Basah Road, was popular among affluent expatriates and locals alike for its Western cuisine during the mid 20th century. Business at the café was so good that it frequently placed ads in ‘The Straits Times’ to inform its customers if it was open for business during the year-end festive period or closed for private functions.
