Still/Life

Born in 1966 in Singapore, Jason Lim holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Central St Martins College of Art and Design, UK (1992) and a Master of Fine Art from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia (2003). Lim is a trained ceramicist but is also known for his installation and performance art. A participant in more than 50 group and solo shows, he was one of four artists who represented Singapore at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007.In ‘Still/Life’, Lim explores the notion of the still life as a formal and static form of expression, through the use of sculpture, as in this contemporary era, the genre is no longer restricted to the two-dimensional format. The alternating heights, varied forms and different colours create a sense of movement in the installation.
