Members of the People’s Action Party (PAP) Branch in Paya Lebar

The People’s Action Party (PAP) was constituted as a political party in November 1954. It underwent a political split in 1961, in which the pro-communist affiliates were expelled from the Party. Since then, the PAP has emerged as the dominant political party in Singapore and currently still forms the ruling government. It is led by a Secretary-General, who is assisted by the Central Executive Committee (CEC). The PAP maintains branches in all the constituencies held by the Party. Each branch is headed by the elected Member of Parliament (MP). Party members assist the MP in various forms of constituency work, such as managing grassroots activities, meet-the-people sessions and walkabouts.
