This photograph features Singapore’s then Minister for Health, Chua Sian Chin, and his Indonesian counterpart Dr. G. A. Siwabessy at the Outram Road General Hospital’s School of Nursing. Dr. Siwabessy was in Singapore on an official visit in October 1971 to study the medical facilities and programmes here. Established in 1821, Outram Road General Hospital is Singapore’s first and is commonly known as the Singapore General Hospital today.
