She received her big break in the film ‘Panggilan Pulau’ (1954), acting alongside film legend P. Ramlee. The film made her into a household name and started her immensely successful career as an actress at Malay Film Productions and later at Cathay-Keris Productions. Her other films include ‘Bawang Putih Bawang Merah’ (1959), ‘Hang Jebat’ (1961) and ‘Laila Majnun’ (1962).Mustapha Maarof started at Shaw Brothers’ Malay Film Productions before joining the Cathay-Keris family. He starred in such films as ‘Bawang Putih, Bawang Merah’ (1959) and ‘Sri Mersing’ (1961), where he met his wife-to-be, Malay actress Roseyatimah. They were married until her death in 1987.
