Built by convict labourers in 1869, Cavenagh Bridge functioned as a much needed link between government offices in Empress Place and Raffles Place. In the background lies Anderson Bridge – named after Sir John Anderson, Governor of the Straits Settlements from 1904 to 1911. Anderson Bridge helped to reduce the load of traffic over Cavenagh Bridge after it was built in 1910.
