This file belonged to Mr. Alfredo Libio, a musician and band leader who was active in the local music scene from the 1940s to 1960s.Alfredo Libio was a Filipino who settled in Singapore during the inter-war years. From the 1940s to 1960s, he headed several bands, conducted orchestras and later wrote transpositions for the Singapore Orchestra. Aside from being a talented artist, Libio was also heavily involved with issues concerning local musicians. In 1949, as the President of Singapore Musicians’ Union, he represented unionised musicians in wage negotiations with the management of the Happy World, New World, Great World and Southern Cabarets. Libio passed away in 1975 at the age of 69.
