Programme pamphlet for the Queen’s Birthday Parade

This is an invitation card to the Queen’s birthday Parade on 12 June 1958 at the Padang. It describes which contingents will participate in the parade and includes a fly-past by the Royal Aircraft. The card also reminds the spectators that it is customary for them to pay their respects to the Regimental Colours. The parade’s participants would give three cheers to the Governor who would stand in for the King or Queen. The highlight of the event would be the fly-past by the Royal aircraft which became especially impressive after WWII with the acquisition of new plane models such as the Spitfire fighters, Meteor and Vampire jets. The event was held to reproduce the grandeur of the Queen’s Birthday Parade in London.
