Situated opposite the Raffles Hotel, the Britannia Club was opened for members of the British forces before it was handed over to the Singapore Armed Forces in 1972 after the British troop withdrawal. The Nuffield Swimming Pool was a gift from Britain’s industrialist and philanthropist, Lord Nuffield.
