Like the books for the youth, non-fiction titles were also packed with wholesome and healthy content, pertaining to patriotism, ethics, self-improvement, and ways of cultivating leadership qualities and noble virtues. Very often, authors discussed various issues that addressed the concerns of the Malayan population as a whole entity, such as literature and the development of education in Malaya. Publications related to science and technology were also common, which reflected the forward-looking mentality and the progressive spirit of the times.
